Here’s an easy way to install Kodi on Amazon Fire Stick or Fire TV.
Kodi is an excellent media system that rivals popular platforms like Plex and Jellyfin. It’s a free, open-source software that helps stream your entire media collection reliably on any local device. While setting it up on your computer is easy, running it on a TV is a completely different story.
Media players like Plex are available on almost every major app platform, but that’s not the case for Kodi. However, there’s no need to worry. If you can’t find Kodi on your Amazon Fire TV or Fire TV Stick, we can use an alternative method. Through this method, you can run the app reliably on your TV because the Fire TV Stick essentially operates on Android.
Amazon Fire TV developer mode enabled
This alternative method relies on enabling Developer Mode on your Fire TV Stick or Fire TV, which will allow us to download and install the Kodi app directly from its website. Developer Mode is a safe feature, and enabling it will not affect the operation of your Fire TV Stick or Fire TV. However, you mustn’t download apps from unreliable sources.
The process to access Developer Mode will be different for Fire TV compared to Fire Stick. Instructions for Fire Stick are in the next section, but once you have Developer Mode enabled, the rest of the steps will be the same.
First, make sure that you’re logged into your Amazon account. If you’re not logged in, this process won’t work.
Go to the TV menu and click on Settings(not the remote). >Device and software>About> yourTV. Here are the instructions directly from Amazon.
If you’ve done this correctly, you should see this menu.
Toggle the Developer Options button. Once you’ve done that, go back to the URI TV, and in the About section, press the center button again. You should see the message “No need, you are already a developer.”
At this stage, you will see a new option called “Developer Options” in the Device and Software menu.
At this point, the process is the same as for Fire Stick. Please go to the “How to download and install Kodi on Amazon Fire Stick” section to continue with the process.
