Google hasn’t confirmed yet whether the gesture will be the default way to activate Gemini Live or just one of the available options. Users eagerly await to see how this feature will work and if it will provide flexibility in activation methods. More clarity is expected as updates roll out in the future.
As reported by Android Authority, Google is working on a new shortcut to activate Gemini Live on Android. The report reveals that users can summon Gemini using a gesture.
The feature, spotted in the 16.2.39 version, allows users to swipe diagonally from the screen’s bottom corners to launch Gemini Live. The chat starts in full-screen mode when the AI assistant opens, creating a more engaging experience.
Before this, users had to tap the Gemini Live button, open the Gemini app, or use an overlay to start it. Android users could also say “Hey Google” to activate Gemini, which gave them more options.
After the conversation, users can disconnect from Gemini Live by tapping the button at the bottom of the screen or return to the home screen using the back button.
Google hasn’t confirmed yet if the gesture will be the default activation method or just one of the options. This update could make it more convenient for users, especially those who prefer gesture-based navigation. More details are expected as the company finalizes its plans for Gemini Live.
