How Do You Remove Apps From the Mac’s Menu Bar?

Recently, I’ve relied more on indie developer community apps on my Mac instead of Apple’s shortcuts. While shortcuts on the iPhone are still an essential app, they’re not as crucial for me on the Mac if you’re like me and want to remove shortcuts from your menu bar.

Previously, it was easier to remove shortcuts from the menu bar by holding the Command key, but Apple has now disabled that method. Now, you need to open the Shortcuts app, click on the “Menu Bar” tab on the left side, select all the shortcuts using Command-A, right-click, and choose “Remove from Menu Bar.” Delete the menu bar shortcuts by clicking “Menu Bar.” This will automatically remove them.

How to Remove Stubborn Apps from Your Menu Bar Easily

Some apps might refuse to leave the menu bar. In such cases, open the app and go to its settings page. There, you might find an option to show or hide the menu bar icon. If the app still stays, you can completely close the app or uninstall it and find a better alternative that doesn’t insist on staying in the menu bar.

To keep the Mac menu bar organized, consider using a menu bar management tool like BarTender. Regularly review and remove unnecessary apps, keeping only the essential ones visible to save space. This will help maintain a cleaner and more organized menu bar.
